Creating art is what I long to do. I dream about it, think about through out my busy day. Art is always forming, evolving and mulling around in my mind...waiting patiently for me to bring it to life.
I have been drawing for as long as I can remember.
In first grade I was drawing pictures for the other kids in my class, mostly horses. That love of horses has followed me all my life. I was16 when I bought my first horse. To this day we have our 5 horses and 2 ponies on our homestead.
Most of my training in publishing, graphics, computer design and photography have been on the job and hands on. I have been fortunate that my past employers supported and encouraged my gifts as an artist.
My computer design training began on the dinosaur Compugraphic 800. I worked for Breakthrough Publications and Wildlife Artist Supply in Georgia, a leading-edge publishing and supply company for Wildlife Artists and Taxidermists. Because I had been a taxidermist, my technical knowledge was valuable in many aspects for the company. I was the Assistant and Managing Editor and Graphics Arts Production Manager of the Publishing Department. My duties included; Computer Graphics Design and Computer formatting, Darkroom Production, Illustrations for manuals, Production and Layout, Writing, Editing to Proof Reading of which included technical language of articles. All production aspects of Manuals, Flyers, Brochures, Magazines, and Catalogues.
I worked at the Brainerd Dispatch, Brainerd, MN in the Composition & Design Department. The pressure of having the writers standing over me while composing and laying out of their articles, taught me how to remain composed in a stressful situation. Honestly this was one of the most beneficial experiences of that job.
I worked with Nelson Graphic Design in Brainerd, MN as Computer Graphics Designer on the Compugraphic. At that time they were contracted with In-Fisherman Magazine. Because of my knowledge in the Sports Fishing Industry as a Taxidermist and part owner of Hunter Fisher Taxidermy in Alaska, it proved very beneficial because of my familiarity of the topic.
I have lived on and managed our homestead and ranch for 19 years. I have designed and maintained our website for most of these years. This has led me to designing and maintaining other websites of not only my own soaping and herbal business, and Art Studio, but organizations I am involved in. The past 17 years I have free-lanced and commissioned Illustrations and Art Designs, and explored other avenues of creation (Collage, Altered Art, ATC's, Henna Body Art , to name a few).
